Salimuzzaman Siddiqui was a renowned Pakistani scientist who made significant contributions to the field of organic chemistry. He was born on October 19, 1897, in British India (now in Pakistan) and died on April 14, 1994, in Karachi, Pakistan. Siddiqui was known for his research on medicinal plants and natural products, and he discovered many new chemical compounds during his career. He also helped establish the Department of Chemistry at the University of Karachi and played an important role in the development of science education in Pakistan. Siddiqui was honored with numerous awards for his contributions to science, including the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civilian award, and the Order of the British Empire, which he received in 1946.
