The Grand Canal is a series of waterways in eastern China that stretches over 1,776 km (1,104 miles) from Beijing to Hangzhou. It was built between the 5th century BC and the 7th century AD, and was used primarily for transportation of goods and people. The canal is considered a UNESCO World Heritage site and is the longest man-made canal in the world.
